NOW HIRING: Maintenance Worker

Therm-O-Spray (formerly Therm-O-Light Type 2) is a spray applied thermal and acoustical cellulose fibre insulation (CFI) manufactured from specially selected grades of recycled paper and paperboard products.

Product Overview

Therm-O-Spray is applied through the use of pneumatic blowing and spray equipment.

Therm-O-Spray can be used in new or existing buildings and is suitable for use in both above and below grade applications. It can be applied to any open vertical, horizontal, or sloped surface (regardless of pitch) as well as any open cavity such as walls, floors, flat roofs, and cathedral ceilings, which will be later closed.

Therm-O-Spray is treated with a special blend of non-corrosive borate fire retardant additives, which also provides the product with a resistance to mould growth, wood decay, insect damage, and discourages rodent activity.

Made with 100% recycled wood fibre, our products are a natural choice. We process recycled newsprint through a special process until it is reduced to a light, fluffy, cotton-like material. Then we treat the fibres with various additives to make it resistant to fire, pests, and other harmful agents.

Greater energy savings due to its higher resistance to air leakage and higher R-factor at extreme temperatures.

Reduces heating and air conditioning costs, which will pay dividends for years to come.

Treated to prevent the growth of mould, mildew, and wood destroying fungi. Effective in controlling insects and preventing rodent activity.

Fire Resistant

Can block the spread of fire by as much as 64%.

Sound Control

Material acts as an excellent sound barrier.

No skin irritations or health concerns.

Product Data

Performance Data

Our Canadian climate produces some of the most extreme weather conditions on the planet. With scorching heat in the summer and sub-zero cold in the winter, we have to rely on insulation that really works.

Environmental Benefits

Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Our products reduce the heating and cooling requirements of the structure, which, in turn, conserves non-renewable energy resources and reduces the greenhouse gas load on the environment.

Atmospheric Carbon

Made with natural wood fibre, our products are produced through the process of photosynthesis, which captures and removes atmospheric carbon (greenhouse gases). Other insulations exacerbate the global warming problem by producing vast quantities of greenhouse gases during their manufacture.

Embodied Energy

Therm-O-Light conserves our resources. The energy required to produce cellulose fibre insulation is lower than any other insulation.

Waste paper fibre used in our products is permanently diverted from municipal solid waste streams, which, in turn, reduces the burden on landfill sites.

Renewable Resource

Through sustained forest management practices, this product can be produced in perpetuity with no detriment to our natural environment.

Air Quality

Our products do not release harmful emissions into the environment. Many plastic foam insulations release gases (blowing agents) during their manufacture or after application in the field. Similarly, many batt insulation products use formaldehyde and/or polyisocyanurate-based adhesives, which off-gas over time
